London: India's delegation to the G7 summit in London led by External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has gone into self-quarantine after two members of the panel tested positive for COVID.

Jaishankar tweeted that he had been exposed to the virus and that he will join the talks virtually as he was under observation. "As a measure of abundant caution and also out of consideration for others, I decided to conduct my engagements in the virtual mode," he wrote on Twitter.

The minister did meet the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in person, with necessary precautions, on the same day of his arrival to London, Monday, according to British media. On Tuesday, Jaishankar also met with British interior minister Priti Patel. The visit is scheduled for four days.

The foreign ministers of the G7 countries are meeting in person after two years since the advent of the pandemic. The summit will be attended by delegates from the G7 including Britain, the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. Though India, Australia, South Korea and South Africa not in the G-7 group of nations, these countries were invited as guests with the UK trying to strengthen ties with the countries.
