India has summoned Jason Meeks, Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in New Delhi, in connection with the attack on an Indian-flagged commercial vessel off the coast of Oman.

Meeks was called by Nagaraj Naidu, Additional Secretary (Americas) in the Ministry of External Affairs, to convey India's protest over the strike on the vessel Settebello.

The move comes after India condemned the attack on the ship, which had 24 Indian crew members on board at the time of the incident.

According to official information, 21 Indian crew members have been rescued, while three remain missing.

India reiterated its concern over the attack and called for de-escalation in the region. The government also stressed the need to protect commercial shipping and ensure the restoration of safe navigation in international waters.

The Ministry of External Affairs has not released further details about the discussions held during the meeting.

Search and rescue efforts for the three missing Indian crew members are continuing.
