India set to sign 10-year deal with Iran for Chabahar Port management

India is reportedly on the verge of signing an agreement with Iran to oversee the management of the Chabahar port for the next decade.
The agreement is expected to be signed on Monday, with India's Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal likely to travel to Iran for the signing, according to unidentified sources cited in the report.
The Indian government has not yet responded to requests for comments on the matter.
Chabahar port, situated along Iran's southeastern coast on the Gulf of Oman, has been a focal point of development for India. India has been working on a segment of the port to establish a transportation route for goods destined for Iran, Afghanistan, and Central Asian countries, circumventing the port of Karachi in Pakistan, reported Reuters.
However, the progress of the port's development has been hampered by US sanctions on Iran.
India's initiative to manage the Chabahar port for the next decade signals its commitment to enhancing connectivity in the region and strengthening trade ties with Iran and its neighboring countries.
