India records 752 new Covid cases amid surging infections

New Delhi: India reported 752 more new cases and one death from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The country has been seeing a huge spike in Covid 19 cases after a new variant of Omicron JN.1 began circulating.

The county yesterday recorded 328 cases which included 265 cases from Kerala where a death was also reported, NDTV reported.

Health ministry put the number of active cases today to 3,420, which means 423 more cases up from yesterday’s 2,997.

Health ministry earlier urged people to be cautious after the new variant JN.1 began driving surge of infections.

Goa reported as many as 21 cases of the variant so far, and another in Kerala, according to news agency PTI.

As the new bouts of cases are being reported in the country, Kerala has accounted a major chunk of them with reporting 565 cases over the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, active cases in the state have touched 2,872.

Noida reported its first Covid case in months when a 54-year-old resident working in Gurugram was tested positive.
