India reported 24,354 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a slight decrease of 8.8 per cent from yesterday, taking the overall caseload to 3,37,91,061. At least 234 deaths due to coronavirus were also reported in last 24 hours.

Top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 13,834 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 3,105 cases, Mizoram with 1,626 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,597 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 809 cases.

At least 86.11 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 56.8 per cent of the new cases.

Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (95), followed by Maharashtra with 50 daily deaths.

India's active caseload stands at 2,73,889. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 1,335.

India has administered a total of 69,33,838 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 89,74,81,554. The country has been able to vaccinate 69.4 per cent of its adult population with at least one dose, and at the same time, 25.6 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.86 per cent, highest since March 2020. At least 25,455 recoveries in the last 24 hours took the total number of recoveries to 3,30,68,599.

Meanwhile, the global coronavirus caseload has topped 233.7 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 4.78 million and vaccinations soared to over 6.22 billion, according to Johns Hopkins University.

In its latest update on Friday morning, the University's Centre for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 233,703,468 and 4,782,043 respectively, while the total vaccine doses administered were 6,227,425,133.
