India logged 13,596 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest daily rise in the last eight months or 230 days, the Health Ministry's data showed on Monday. 166 people have died of Covid in the last 24 hours.

The top five states which registered the maximum number of Covid-19 cases are Kerala with 6,676 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 1,485 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,192 cases, Mizoram with 953 cases and West Bengal with 690 cases.

As many as 84.21 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 51.13 per cent.

Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (60), followed by Maharashtra with 27 daily deaths.

The country's active caseload (1,89,694) is 0.56 per cent of the overall cases logged since the start of the pandemic, the Health Ministry said. The active caseload is also the lowest in 221 days.

A total of 19,470 people recuperated from the disease, sending the national recovery rate to 98.14 per cent, highest since March 2020, the ministry further said.

While the weekly positivity rate (1.37% per cent) has been less than 3 per cent for the last 115 days, the daily positivity rate (1.37 per cent) has been less than 3 per cent for 49 days. The active cases now account for less than 1 per cent of total cases and it is lowest since March 2020 which is currently at 0.54 per cent.

As per information shared by the ministry, a total of 1,02,05,09,915 doses have been provided to states and union territories so far through the Central government''s free-of-cost channel and through the direct state procurement category.

The ministry in an official statement said that more than 10.42 crore balance and unutilised COVID vaccine doses are still available with the states and union territories to be administered to the eligible population.

As per the ministry, balance and unutilised COVID vaccine doses amount to 10,42,38,220.

"The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country," stated the ministry.
