The Indian government has extended its lobbying contract in the United States with SHW Partners LLC, led by President Donald Trump's close aide Jason Miller, for another year, according to filings under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

The renewed agreement, signed by the Indian Embassy in Washington, provides for a monthly payment of $150,000 and will remain in effect until April 23, 2027.

According to the FARA filings, SHW Partners will provide strategic counsel, tactical planning, and government relations assistance on policy matters involving the US government, Congress, state governments, academic institutions, think tanks, and other stakeholders.

The extension comes as President Trump is expected to visit India during the contract period and as New Delhi and Washington move closer to concluding a bilateral trade agreement.

The Indian Embassy hired SHW Partners on April 24, 2025, under an annual contract worth $1.8 million. The firm is headed by Jason Miller, who served as Trump's chief spokesperson during his 2016 presidential campaign and transition team.

The embassy also retained Mercury Public Affairs on a monthly fee of $75,000. The firm's leadership includes Bryan Lanza, who was communications director for Trump's 2020 transition team. Trump's current Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, was a registered lobbyist with Mercury Public Affairs until late 2024.

According to the filings, SHW Partners assisted the Indian Embassy during trade negotiations and arranged meetings for Indian officials. The documents also show that after Operation Sindoor ended on May 10 last year, the firm facilitated outreach by Indian officials to senior members of the Trump administration, including US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, National Security Council official Ricky Gill, White House official Steven Cheung and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.

Jason Miller visited India in May this year and attended a reception hosted by the US Embassy for Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The US Embassy said he was visiting India as a private citizen.
