India and France carry out maritime exercise in Arabian Sea
text_fieldsNew Delhi: India conducted a joint maritime exercise with France in the Arabian Sea. Indian Navy's indigenously built guided missile frigate, INS Sahyadri and French Navy (FN) ships FS Dixmude, a Mistral Class Amphibious Assault Ship and FS La Fayette participated in the Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) on March 10 and 11.
The exercise witnessed a wide spectrum of evolutions at sea which included cross-deck landings, boarding exercises, and seamanship evolution, said the Ministry of Defence. The seamless conduct is being considered a confirmation of the interoperability and high level of cooperation between the two navies, reported ANI.
INS Sahyadri has state-of-the-art weapons and sensors to detect and neutralise air, surface, and sub-surface threats. The ship is a part of the Indian Navy's Eastern Fleet based at Visakhapatnam, under the operational control of FOCinC (East), added the ministry.
