Kottayam: Income Tax Department's raid on various institutions of Believer's Church will resume today. The raids were carried out at several places in Kerala regarding alleged tax evasion and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violations by the Thiruvalla-based Church. As per reports, the officials confiscated Rs 54 lakh from the boot of a vehicle on Thursday.

Officials from the Regional Headquarters in Kochi are leading the inspection with the assistance of Income Tax Department officials from many states. The probe recommenced to raid on the basis of finding irregularities in receiving foreign funds under the church and tax records.

The IT's inspections at more than 40 centres reveal crucial information. The raid held yesterday at the church headquarters was ended late at night. Reports state that almost five crore rupees have been seized yet. The Income Tax Department has also sealed documents from different institutions.
