Hyderabad tops metro cities in India’s ease of living ranking

Hyderabad has topped the list of metro cities in India on an ease of living ranking, thanks to its pocket friendly commuting, better housing and infrastructure, and comfortable weather, according to the report WeAreCity 2026 by UnboxingBLR (UBLR). The city outperformed seven other major metros in the assessment.
The ranking is based on five themes: commute, diversity, going out, housing & infrastructure, and weather. Hyderabad ranked higher than the others in three of these themes, which helped it secure first place overall among metro cities.
In the commute theme, Delhi NCR ranked first, while Hyderabad placed fifth. The city stood third in diversity, with Chennai on top. Kolkata ranked first for housing and infrastructure, followed by Hyderabad in second place. In weather, Hyderabad ranked fourth, with Bengaluru topping the category.
Although Hyderabad did not top any single metric, its strong performance across three themes lifted it to the top of the overall metro city ranking.
