Hyderabad Anganwadi helper arrested for ladle assault on boy over extra egg

Hyderabad: Police in Film Nagar have arrested an Anganwadi school helper for allegedly beating an 11-year-old Class VI pupil with a ladle after he took an extra boiled egg at lunch.

The incident unfolded at the school in Jai Bhavaninagar during the lunch break, when the boy helped himself to the additional egg without permission. He sustained injuries including bleeding and internal damage to his right shoulder.

The child's father, who works at a private firm, learned of the assault from neighbours and rushed to the scene. By then, school management had already admitted the boy to a private hospital. "He is just a child. Taking an extra egg is not a serious mistake. Instead of informing us, they resorted to physical violence," the father said, questioning the severity of the response.

Following a complaint from the parents, authorities detained the accused, Balanageswareamma, and produced her before a court, which remanded her to judicial custody. A case has been registered under provisions for causing hurt and the Juvenile Justice Act.
