Lucknow: As many as 25 persons, were killed in separate rain-related incidents across Uttar Pradesh till late on Sunday night, IANS reported.

Most of the deaths have been reported in cases of house collapse.

Water levels are rising in all major rivers in the state following uninterrupted rain during the past 48 hours.

Schools in Noida, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, and Agra, among others, will remain shut on Monday due to heavy rain in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. All schools across boards, operating class 1 to 12, will remain closed for a day. In Aligarh, all schools up to class 12 will remain closed till October 12, officials said.

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state recorded an average of 22.5 mm rainfall on Sunday, which is 2396 per cent more than the 'long period average' (LPA) for the day. Since October 1, the state has recorded 92.3 mm rainfall which is 500 per cent more than the LPA of 14.4mm. IMD officials have issued forecast of more rains across the state in the next 24 hours.

Nearly 400 villages in the Balrampur district have been flooded and two persons have been swept away after a boat capsized in Barhalganj in Gorakhpur.

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has asked people to remain vigilant and advised people to avoid crowded places and dilapidated buildings.

Several districts have opened up helplines for people affected by rainfall-related problems.
