Hindutva groups once worshipped Trump, now RSSs Organiser says US promotes terrorism

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has launched a scathing attack on the United States, a country once extolled by Hindutva groups in India, with some members even praying for and worshipping former president Donald Trump, accusing it of promoting terrorism and dictatorship, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not directly call out Trump over his imposition of exorbitant tariffs on Indian exports.

The editorial in the RSS mouthpiece, Organiser, argued that the American-led unipolar order is weakening and facing challenges on multiple fronts, citing trade wars, sanctions, and regime change operations as evidence of its decline, while also dismissing global institutions such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation as irrelevant and ineffective.

The RSS claimed that Washington’s approach has contributed to international instability, pointing to ongoing conflicts such as the Russia–Ukraine war, the Israel–Hamas war, and the Israel–Iran tensions as symptoms of a collapsing global order.

It also contrasted the United States with China, which it accused of pursuing a debt-trap strategy and lacking credible mechanisms for long-term stability, and argued that India’s own actions—such as Surgical Strikes, Operation Sindoor, and policies to preserve strategic autonomy—demonstrate a growing national consciousness in foreign policy.

The timing of this sharp criticism has drawn attention as Modi, a former RSS pracharak, has maintained public silence on both Trump’s claims of mediating between India and Pakistan and the high tariffs imposed on Indian exports, despite opposition calls for him to speak out.

The remarks have also come amid speculation about strains between the RSS leadership and the BJP under Modi, particularly after Mohan Bhagwat’s recent comments about stepping aside at the age of 75, a statement that has been interpreted in political circles as possibly aimed at the Prime Minister, who reaches the same milestone this September.
