Gurugram society installs sprinklers to tackle rising air pollution

As air quality in the Delhi NCR region continues to deteriorate, a residential society in Gurugram has drawn attention for installing sprinklers to reduce dust and improve air quality.
On Saturday, the overall Air Quality Index in Delhi stood at 381 in the “severe” category at 4 pm, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
A video shared on Instagram shows sprinklers installed along the rooftops of the society, spraying a fine mist of water to create an effect similar to rainfall. The person who shared the video claimed the system helps settle dust particles and significantly improves air quality within the premises.
The clip shows multiple angles of the setup, giving the impression of rainfall across the entire complex. The individual described it as the only housing society in Gurugram actively controlling air pollution through artificial rain, calling it an example of “futuristic living”. He also claimed that the AQI inside the society remains below 100.
The video also shows landscaped gardens, walking paths lined with plants, and well-maintained green spaces within the premises. The initiative has triggered discussion online, with several users reacting to the approach.
One user commented that development must go hand in hand with environmental responsibility and suggested that government-mandated tree plantation drives could help improve air quality.
Another wrote that clean air should be a basic right and not a privilege limited to those who can afford it.
A third user suggested that authorities should encourage societies and offices to adopt similar measures and possibly include such efforts under corporate social responsibility initiatives.
