Chandigarh: The grenade attack on Punjab's Police's Intelligence Headquarters on Monday evening caught the state's fledgling Aam Aadmi Party government unawares.

The Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG), fired from some 80 meters away hitting Intelligence Headquarters, has spurred the Opposition in Punjab where AAP made its first political foray into power outside Delhi recently.

BJP wouldn't wait to hit out at AAP government saying that it was 'experimenting' with Punjab's peace, according to The Indian Express.

Close on the heels of BJP's attack, former CM Amarinder Singh termed the incident a "brazen attack" as well as urging the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to take quick action against perpetrators.

Hours after the attack, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said those trying to disturb Punjab's peace would not be spared.

The Chief Minister Mann on Tuesday tweeted that the investigation was underway.

The blast that had taken place around 7.45 pm reported no injury, however the building suffered minor damage.

The Indian Expressed sourcing police official reported after the wall of the building suffered the impact, window panes were shattered.

The CM huddled with the state's DGP VK Bhawra to take stock of the situation in the aftermath of the blast.

A spokesperson of the AAP reportedly said the chief minister was keeping a 'constant' eye on the situation.

AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that the culprits would be punished severely, according to the report.

AAP leader also said the government would not allow the wishes of "those people" fulfilled.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa called out AAP government saying that Punjab police instead of chasing Tajinder Pal Singh should focus on the state's security.
