Panaji: A court in Goa has summoned AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on allegations of violating the model code of conduct, requesting his presence on November 29.

The summons, received by the local Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) unit, lacked specific details regarding the criminal case against the Delhi chief minister.

The case, reportedly under the Representation of the People Act and section 171 (E) of the Indian Penal Code concerning bribery, was revealed through court sources. The Judicial Magistrate First Class at Mapusa issued the summons, setting the appearance date.

AAP's Goa chief, Amit Palekar, disclosed that they were only informed of the summons a day before Kejriwal's scheduled appearance. He indicated that the charge sheet seemed to have been filed back in 2018, yet the party remains unaware of the case's particulars.

As a lawyer and the AAP representative, Palekar intends to appear in court on Kejriwal's behalf during the scheduled hearing. He mentioned plans to acquire the necessary documents to evaluate potential challenges against the proceedings in a higher court.

AAP participated in the Goa assembly elections in 2017 and 2022, securing no seats in 2017 but winning two seats in 2022.
