Girl's body found hanging from ceiling in Uttarkashi

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Police informed on Sunday that a woman’s dead body was found hanging from the ceiling of a room in a resort in Uttarkashi district, PTI reported.
The preliminary investigation suggested that it was a case of suicide, police say. The body was found hanging from the ceiling, and her feet were touching the floor.
However, the woman’s family claimed that she was murdered and later hung from the ceiling to make it a suicide. They created a ruckus before the Uttarkashi district hospital on Saturday, alleging that she was killed by the resort owner along with his cook. The family refused to accept the body to perform its last rites and accused the police of protecting the woman’s murderers.
The body, which was found on December 1, was 18 years old and worked at the resort in Kafalaun village, according to police.
Senior Sub-Inspector (SSI) Rajesh Kumar said that a case has been registered under 302 of IPC, naming the resort owner and his cook, and the investigation is underway.
However, the autopsy report does not suggest any crime. But as per the villager's request, the women’s viscera and vaginal swabs were sent for forensic examination, Kumar added.
