Police in Pune have booked four journalists for filming a woman while she was changing clothes in a hotel room, claiming they were conducting a sting operation.

According to police, the accused include Rohan Kadam, who works for a television news channel, along with three others. The group had rented a room at Ajay Lodge in the Budhwar Peth area on April 8 and recorded the woman in another room without her consent.

The woman noticed the act, raised an alarm, and later filed a First Information Report at the Vishrambag Police Station on Friday night.

The accused have been booked under Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with capturing or sharing images of a woman where she has a reasonable expectation of privacy, along with Section 3(5) of the law.

The Pune Union of Working Journalists condemned the incident and wrote to the Pune City Police Commissioner seeking legal action against those involved.

Office-bearers of the organisation also met Deputy Commissioner of Police Krishikesh Rawale, stating that the body does not support unethical or unlawful activities by journalists.
