New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya asked Rahul Gandhi to postpone Bharat Jodo Yatra if participants of the cross country march are not following Covid norms.

Writing to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot as well, the union minister asked the duo to comply with the norms as the Covid cases are surging in China and East Asia.

Mandaviya said Covid guidelines including the use of mask and sanitiser be strictly followed during Bharat Jodo Yatra.

“Only vaccinated people should participate in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Follow covid rules or suspend yatra,” the letter reportedly said.

The Union Health Minister requested ‘in the national interest’ to postpone the foot march if COVID protocols are not followed, taking note of public health emergency.

Traversing several states , Bharat Jodo Yatra arrived in Haryana on Wednesday.

The foot march, which began from Kanyakumari on September 7, spent more than 100 days on the road with Rahul Gandhi making stump speeches on the way.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra has so far covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan before reaching Haryana.
