Jamia Millia Islamia has raised tuition costs for the 2025-26 academic year, ranging from 16% to 41% across several courses. A comparison of the latest academic prospectus to the prior year's tuition reveals a significant increase in costs.

In an effort to draw in more international students and NRI wards, JMI lowered the prices for SAARC nations. Additionally, they have lowered the cost of diploma programs under the University Polytechnic to foreign nationals and NRI wards.

The Department of Persian has seen the greatest increase, at 41.41 per cent, with annual fees jumping from Rs 6,700 to Rs 9,475. Following closely behind, the Department of Arabic saw a 37.15 per cent increase in tuition, going from Rs 7,200 to Rs 9,875 annually.

Similarly, there has been a 37.15 per cent increase in foreign language programs, such as BA (Hons) in Turkish and other languages.

The cost of Jamia Millia Islamia's social science programs, including the four-year BA (Multidisciplinary), the MA and BA (Hons) in Political Science, and the BCom (Hons), has increased by 32.99% from Rs 7,425 to Rs 9,875 annually.

The cost of science programs, such as BSc (Multidisciplinary), geography, mathematics, and physics, has increased by 34.29%, from Rs 7,800 to Rs 10,475 annually, Indian Express reported.

Professional courses have also experienced an increase in fees. BTech programs have increased by 19.04 per cent, from Rs 16,150 to Rs 19,225 per year, while MTech programs now cost Rs 21,375 per year, a 16.48 per cent increase. Law programmes, such as LLM (Regular) and BA LLB (Hons), have suffered a 19% increase in annual fees, from Rs 15,000 to Rs 17,850.

With tuition fees growing across all programs, students may face increased financial strain. In addition to the tuition revision, the university has announced 14 new courses and increased the use of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores for admissions.

This year, 25 programmes—including nine undergraduate, five postgraduate, eight diploma, and three advanced diploma courses—will admit students based on CUET merit, up from 20 programmes last year.

The new courses at JMI are: Bachelor of Design (BDes) – 4 years; BSc (Hons) Computer Science (4 years); Certificate (Design and Innovation) Self Financed Evening; Certificate (Textile Design) Self Financed Evening; PG Diploma in Fire Safety, Lifts and Plumbing Services (Self-Financed); Certificate (Graphic Art) (Print Making) Self Financed Evening; MFA (Curatorial Practices) Self Financed; MFA (Art Management) Self Financed; MFA (Conceptual Art Practice) Self Financed; MFA (Graphic Art) (Print Making) Self Financed; Certificate (Art & Aesthetics) Self Financed, Evening; Certificate (Creative Photography) Self Financed Evening; Certificate (Calligraphy) Self Financed Evening and Certificate (Art Appreciation & Art Writing) Self Financed, Evening.
