Fear of historical defeat puts Babaji under pressure: Akhilesh Yadav
cancel

On Thursday, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav poked fun at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying the BJP leader is under a lot of pressure due to the fear of a historic defeat in the upcoming state assembly election.

Akhilesh Yadav wrote on Twitter, "When we said 'compressor', he understood low pressure. Baba Ji is misunderstanding... the truth is he is under a lot of pressure because of his fear of a historic defeat."

During the campaign for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Mr Yadav and Yogi Adityanath have attacked each other using verbal metaphors.

The BJP refers to Mr Yadav as "babua" in its poll rallies, while the SP president refers to Chief Minister Yogi as "Babaji".

As the poll date nears, a political climate frantic with slogans and metaphors is emerging in Uttar Pradesh.

Elections for the 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will take place in seven phases between February 10 and March 7. The results of the election will be tallied on March 10.
