New Delhi: Facebook is set to hire an Indian student for a salary that is worth a fortune.

Bisakh Mondal of the Jadavpur University in Kolkata turned down job offers from Google and Amazon after the mind-boggling ₹ 1.8 crore pay package of Facebook came his way.

This is the highest pay package offered to any student of the university this year, reports NDTV.

Mondal, the fourth-year student of computer science and engineering, will fly to his workplace in London in September.

Mondal comes from a modest family in Bengal's Birbhum district.

His mother Shibani, a helper at an anganwadi or a village childcare, said her son has always been a meritorious student.

Mondal told India Today that before accepting this job he got offers from Google and Amazon but chose Facebook as the package was high.

He had honed skills serving as an intern at several organizations learning stuff outside his curriculum which prepared him for corporate interviews, according to The Indian Express.

Samita Bhattacharya who is a placement officer at the University said the first time since the pandemic students got huge international offers.
