Zafar Agha, a veteran in Indian journalism known for his astute political analysis, passed away early this morning at the age of 70.

Born in 1954 in Allahabad, Zafar Agha's journey in journalism commenced in 1979 when he joined The Link Magazine. Over the next four and a half decades, he carved a niche for himself in the field, contributing significantly to various publications including the Patriot, Business and Political Observer, India Today, and ETV, among others.

His stint as the Political Editor at India Today was particularly notable for his incisive coverage and insightful commentary on political affairs.

In his final role, Zafar Agha served as the Editor of Qaumi Awaz and later as the Editor-in-Chief of the National Herald Group, where he continued to uphold the values of journalistic integrity and impartiality.

Beyond his journalistic endeavours, Zafar Agha also made significant contributions to the realm of education as a member and later as the officiating chairman of The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions until 2017. His commitment to promoting educational opportunities for all segments of society reflected his deep-rooted belief in equality and social justice.

Studied at Yaaadgaar Hussaini Inter-College and Allahabad University, Zafar Agha was a student of English literature. Throughout his life, he remained in allegiance to left-wing and democratic principles.

The Namaz-e-Janaza for Zafar Agha will be performed at Dargah Shah-e-Mardan in B.K. Dutt Colony, Jor Bagh, at approximately 1:30 PM, followed by burial at 4:00 PM at the Hauz Rani graveyard adjacent to Press Enclave, Saket, New Delhi.
