New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate told the Supreme Court that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal evaded nine summons and was arrested even as the High Court refused to grant him interim relief, NDTV reported.

The agency in an affidavit contended that despite issuing summons, the Delhi Chief Minister did not appear for questioning.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party called out the agency, alleging that it is but a "machine churning out lies" at the behest of the BJP. according to the report.

It is reported that the court will hear Kejriwal’s petition challenging his arrest in the Delhi liquor policy case next week.

Highlighting the possibility of tampering the evidence, the ED claimed that 170 cellphones were altered and destroyed by 36 persons during the course of the scam.

"The BJP wants to stop Arvind Kejriwal from election campaign... This is not an ED investigation, this is a BJP investigation," the party reportedly said.

AAP said the central agency has no evidence against Kejriwal or other leaders and alleged that it is acting like a political ally of the BJP.

Though the matter came to the Supreme Court earlier this month after the Delhi High Court validated Kejriwal’s arrest, the court however refused an early hearing.

The court directed the agency to file its response to Kejriwal’s petition by April 26.
