Chennai: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president MK Stalin announced his party's decision to boycott the current Assembly session on Tuesday. In a press meeting, he informed that the decision follows the Governor's inaction on the memorandum filed by DMK against the Chief Minister and other Ministers in Tamil Nadu. The party has decided to boycott the Assembly because they believe they would not be given an opportunity to expose the corrupted activities of the government. The party has taken the issues to People's forum. "The decision to boycott the budget session would be taken depending upon the situation," he said. He also added that the Union Budget would "give opportunity only for corporates and ignore the poor".

"DMK has already submitted a 97-page report on corruption-related complaints before Governor. Petitions to release convicts of Rajiv Gandhi Assassination case is pending on Governor's table. He is ignoring that and acting according to what the AIADMK government says. No developments in education and women's security can be seen under AIADMK's governance," Salma Rajathi, State Deputy Secretary of DMK Women's Wing told Madhyamam.

"To get a job in the government sector, some of the officials are asking for a bribe. This is a threat to the educated youth. This government looted Tamil Nadu completely. DMK has evidence. We are speaking against that through the memorandum, and the Governor is systematically rejecting our claims. This undemocratic move by Governor is highly condemnable. We will campaign against these malpractices by the state government and make people aware of all these corruptions," she added.

Earlier, the DMK had urged Governor Banwarilal Purohit to order a CBI probe against the Chief Minister. The party called out "mega scams" and "illegal" contracts awarded to the family members and friends of CM Edappadi K Palaniswami. The memorandum filed alleges that Rs 3120 crore were illegally awarded to private companies having close connections with the Chief Minister. Stalin also alleged corruption over highway maintenance and minor ports' construction.
