Delhi: A viral footage showed a man hitting his daughter-in law in northwest Delhi with a brick after she rejected his objection to her going to work.
The police said the 26-year-old woman sustained serious injuries in the attack on Tuesday.
The woman identified as Kajal was going to a job interview when the father-in law attacked her.
He was furious at her decision to go to work as she wanted to support her husband Praveen Kumar.
Kajal was walking on a lane in Delhi's Prem Nagar when the man came over with a brick in his hand.
Kajal tried to leave the place as the man confronted her before repeatedly hitting her in the head.
The man chased her with the brick as Kajal tried to escape his attack, the video shows.
Kajal received 17 stitches at the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where she was taken immediately after the incident.
Following her complaint, police filed a case against Kajal's father-in-law who lives in Faridabad, officials said.
The police reportedly said an investigation has been initiated in the incident.
