Delhi High Court refuses to dismiss Kejriwal as CM

New Delhi: A Division Bench of Delhi High Court has rejected a Public Interest Litigation petition to remove Arvind Kejriwal from theh post of Delhi Chief Minister, legal portals have reported.
The court's bench comprising of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora on Thursday dismissed the petition, filed following his arrest for involvement in the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.
The plea was filed by Surjit Singh Yadav, a Delhi resident claiming to be a farmer and social worker. In his plea, Yadav said a Chief Minister accused of a financial scandal should not be permitted to continue in public office.
The bench noted in its judgement, "Having heard the counsel for the petitioner, and having perused the paperbook, this court is of the view that there is no scope of judicial interference vis a vis the relief sought," the court said in its judgement.
"It is for the other wing of the government to examine the same in accordance with law. The court clarifies that it has not commented on the merits of the case. The petition is dismissed," the Court judgement further added.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has produced Kejriwal in the Rouse Avenue court. ED has requested to extend his remand by another week from the date his current remand ended, i.e. 28 March.
The court will also consider the bail plea of Kejriwal. Meanwhile, Kejriwal's wife Sunita said on Thursday that there would be a stunning disclosure in the court by Kejriwal about the liquor policy scam.
