text_fieldsThe Delhi High Court is set to hear Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea on Tuesday, challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the excise policy case.
On June 29, a trial court had remanded the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader to judicial custody until July 12 as part of the CBI’s investigation into alleged corruption related to the excise policy.
The CBI formally arrested Kejriwal on June 25.
When the CBI produced Kejriwal in the court following a three-day custodial probe, the Central agency sought 14-day judicial custody of him. The agency alleged that Kejriwal was not cooperating with the probe, giving evasive replies.
In its remand plea, the agency said that the AAP leader may influence witnesses and those who are yet to be quizzed alongside evidence is already exposed before him during the custodial interrogation.
