CSR: Coal India spends 1600 Cr plus in 3 years
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The state-owned company Coal India Ltd (CIL) revealed that it had spent more than Rs 1,600 crore on corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects in the last three years, PTI reported.
"During the last three years, CIL has spent more than Rs 1,600 crore on CSR activities," the public sector undertaking said in a release. The company added that the mandated target for CSR for the three years was but Rs 1,284 crore.
It said that it had spent more than Rs 500 crore to contribute to the fight against Covid-19 across the country.
CIL Director (Personnel) Vinay Ranjan said that the company is the third-largest spender on CSR works in the country.
It had spent more than 60 per cent of its CSR budget on the health and sanitation sector. The company also provided employment skills to more than 10,000 youngsters.
In the last fiscal when the pandemic was reading, CIL had established 31 oxygen plants in 28 hospitals across the country to meet the oxygen demands, it said. Currently, the CIL is running its CSR activities in 34 districts in eight states of the country.
Coal India Limited contributes 80 per cent of coal output in India.
