Chennai: For a large number of people a day out without mask could not come soon enough, being tired of the covid 19 situation.

Now the government in the thick of arranging the covid vaccine says vaccine is ready for public in a few days.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said as much today in Chennai reviewing the country's second dry run here.

"In a short time, India has done well by developing vaccines...In the next few days, in the near future, we should be able to give these vaccines to our countrymen. It will be given to our healthcare professional followed by frontline workers," Minister Vardhan said, according to ANI.

According to him, the government has seen to it every detail of the vaccination drive conveyed to the people, from the national to the grassroots levels.

The first to get shots will be healthcare professionals and frontline workers, he said at the Government General Hospital in Chennai.

"Lakhs of healthcare workers are being trained through these dry runs, and the process to train more is still going on." he said.

The Minister will visit other places in Chennai including the Omandurar hospital, Apollo hospital, and Chengalpattu.

The second nationwide mock drill is being held at three-session sites of 736 districts across 33 States and Union Territories today.

The dry runs help streamlining one the world's largest vaccination drive.

It could help study the operational feasibility of using the CoWIN application to plan, implement, and report at multiple levels.

The dry on January 2 helped pin down on glitches in programme to better work out the procedures.
