The Bihar government on Monday extended the statewide COVID-induced lockdown till June 1. Lockdown in Bihar started on May 5 and was expected to end on Tuesday, May 25.

"The lockdown has had a good impact and there has been a decline in the corona contagion. Hence, a decision has been taken to continue with the lockdown till June 1", CM Nitish Kumar tweeted.

While almost all business activities have been suspended, shops dealing with essential items have been allowed from 6 am-10 am. Those found violating the protocol are being booked under the Disaster Management Act and the Epidemics Act. Over a lakh people have been affected by COVID-19 in Bihar since April.
