Congress leader offers Rs 10 lakh to silence SP leader over his remark on Hinduism
text_fieldsLucknow: Pandit Ganga Ram Sharma, a Congress leader, has offered Rs 10 lakh for those who cut the tongue of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya, following his recent incendiary remarks on Hinduism.
Pandit Ganga Ram Sharma, heading the Congress's Human Rights Department in Moradabad, lambasted Maurya for his alleged derogatory comments against Hinduism and the revered religious text Ramcharitmanas. The announcement, made through a widely circulated letter, has triggered a social media storm.
Maurya, a prominent SP figure, set off a firestorm when he took to the ‘X’ platform to denounce Hinduism as a "hoax" and a "deceitful" religion. He further asserted that Brahminism was responsible for societal inequalities.
Accusing Brahminism of causing disparities, Maurya argued that Hinduism was a fabricated notion used to subjugate marginalized communities like Dalits, tribals, and backward classes. In a previous incident, Maurya had also called for a ban on the Hindu religious text Ramcharitmanas, labelling it as "nonsense" and alleging it propagated caste-based discrimination.
The SP, led by Akhilesh Yadav, swiftly distanced itself from Maurya's inflammatory comments, with senior leader Manoj Kumar Pandey clarifying that Maurya's opinions were his own and did not represent the party's official stance.
