In a bid to retake the state from the ruling BJP, Congress has launched a 10-day video contest in Assam asking the population to post two-minute videos regarding the issues of the state, ahead of the Assembly polls. The best video creators would be honored with gifts ranging from iPhone to cash.

To participate in the contest, open till February 19th, people have to record and post a two-minute video on any social media platform along with the hashtag #AssamBachao, the link of which should be submitted on the AssamBachao website.

"The feedback from this campaign would tell us what are the most urgent issues to be taken up in our election manifesto and the manifesto would offer the solutions to these very issues and problems," Lok Sabha member and Congress manifesto committee chief Gaurav Gogoi told the media. Gogoi, the son of the former CM late Tarun Gogoi, called for the youth to take charge and save the state from the BJP.

"Ranging from increasing the prices of essential commodities to the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, against the wishes of majority of people, the saffron party has decided to spoil the peace, prosperity and ethnic harmony of Assam," Congress's Deputy leader in the Lok Sabha said.

"This is just the first step. The Congress party is gearing up for an innovative campaign that would bring out the people's resentment against the BJP's mis-governance. The BJP's attempts to muzzle the people's voices with intimidation and fear psychosis won't last till polling day. The people would show through the #AssamBachao campaign how desperate Assam is for change," Congress state president Ripun Bora said.

The BJP came to power in Assam in 2016 after a 15-year long rule by the Congress led by former Chief Minister late Tarun Gogoi.
