CM Pinaray Vijaran meets PM Modi in Delhi, discusses new Covid wave
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to discuss the state's preparedness to deal with the potential wave of Covid-19. Ahead of the New Year, Pinarayi Vijayan gifted the PM a Kathakali sculpture.
The duo also discussed the development projects that are waiting for approval from the Centre. They talked about strengthening Centre-state relations and steps to be taken for the speedy completion of projects involving both governments. This includes National Highways development.
A source close to the Kerala government told PTI that the leaders discussed issues related to the buffer zone, the SilverLine project, and the pandemic-related financial crisis. Farmers and residents of the areas close to the forested parts of Kerala have been protesting against the one-kilometre eco-sensitive zones (ESZ).
However, the government statement about the meeting did not mention these topics.
The Kerala government has earlier cited natural disasters, the pandemic, distorted policies of the Centre, implementation of GST, delayed distribution of GST compensation, and imposition of cuts in the borrowing limit of the state as reasons for the economic crisis.
