CJP seeks compensation for families of students who died by suicide
text_fieldsThe Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide amid the ongoing examination-related crisis.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke claimed that 11 students had lost their lives by suicide in recent weeks, including five cases reported within the previous 48 hours.
The group said it had interacted with families affected by these deaths and highlighted the emotional and financial difficulties they were facing. It claimed that several families had taken education loans to support their children’s studies and were now struggling after their loss, Maktoob Media reported.
CJP urged the government to provide compensation of ₹1 crore to families of students who died by suicide, linking the deaths to alleged examination paper leaks and related issues.
The organisation said it had been demanding the Education Minister’s resignation for the past month and had conducted protests across the country, stating that students were seeking accountability for the loss of lives.
The group accused the Union government of failing to address deeper problems within the education system, alleging that repeated failures, mismanagement and pressure surrounding examinations had created widespread anxiety among students.
It called on the Prime Minister to remove Pradhan from office, saying a change in leadership was necessary to restore confidence in the education system.
The CJP also announced that students from different parts of the country would gather at Jantar Mantar from June 20 to press for their demands.
