Jammu: Jammu Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said that the Union government is formulating a policy to facilitate students who returned from Ukraine to continue their MBBS course in India. On Monday, he met the MBBS students hailing from the Union Territory at Raj Bhavan in Jammu, IANS reported.

The Lt Governor said that he was informed by the Union and as well as the UT government that both are deeply concerned about the student returnees from Ukraine.

Thousands of Indian students were forced to leave their studies in the middle and abandon the war-hit Ukraine.

Meanwhile, The Supreme Court closed to cases regarding the Ukraine students' situation after the Union government submitted that it had completed the enormous job evacuating 22,500 Indian students stranded in Ukraine, PTI reported.

On Monday, A bench comprising Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justice Krishna Murari said that nothing remains in the matter since the students have reached back safe. The court said so after taking Attorney General KK Venugopal's submission that the Union is looking into the representation submitted by the students whose studies have been disrupted due to the war. He added that let the government take the decision.

Ahana demanded the court direct the Ministry of External Affairs to gather permission for her and others who were stranded then in Ukraine to cross the checkpoint in Moldova to enter Romania and board an Air India evacuation flight. She also sought the court to direct the ministry to take effective diplomatic steps to evacuate herself and others from the ex-Soviet. Tiwari also submitted a similar demand through his public interest litigation. He also raised the issue of the continuation of studies of those returned.
