Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said there are rumours that the Centre may try to dissolve Delhi Assembly and convert the city into a full union territory. The AAP head added that such a move will face resistance from residents of the capital city.

He was talking in the monsoon session of the Delhi Assembly.

The Aam Aadmi Party founder alleged that there are talks that there will be no next elections. Talking to the BJP MLAs in the house, he said "By hating Kejriwal, you have started hating the country".

He added that the BJP fears AAP which is why they do not want elections.

He noted that other parties in the country are either breaking away or bowing down before BJP. "The AAP is the only party which makes them wet their pants," he said in the House. He added that the Centre is using ED, CBI, and police on AAP ministers and MLAs because it "fears" the ruling party in Delhi.

The Delhi CM further said he is not important but the country is. "Kejriwal will keep coming and going. Kejriwal is not important, but if you stop conducting elections and shred the constitution, this country will be finished".

While speaking to the media, he said the BJP is not able to control AAP which is why senior BJP leaders are saying Delhi will be turned into a full UT. "But if this happens, Delhi's public will not keep sitting silently. Delhiites will come on streets against the move," added the AAP head.

He also accused the Centre of using "force and hooliganism" to not allow the Municipal polls. "We will have to approach the court to get MCD elections conducted on time and we will do it".

Kejriwal said the Centre had assured that a delimitation commission will be formed during the unification exercise of the three MCDs. After that elections will be held. The unification of the MCDs was done over one and a half months ago. "But, the Centre hasn't formed the delimitation commission."

He alleged that the delay is because the BJP-led government does not want elections to be conducted. "This is against democracy. We will go to court on this if required".
