New Delhi: The Central Investigation Agency (CBI) has summoned Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, urging him to appear before its headquarters in Delhi at 11 am today in connection with the liquor policy case, when he was to head to Gujarat for the election campaign.

Calling the CBI summons an attempt by the BJP to stop him from going to Gujarat, Sisodia said his arrest was unlikely to stop exposing the BJP government in Gujarat.

Sisodia went to the CBI office, along with scores of AAP workers, making a number of stops along the way, including Mahatma Gandhi's memorial Raj Ghat where he addressed his party workers.

In a tweet, he said he was to go to Gujarat for an election campaign and the BJP wants him to stop going there as they are scared of losing Gujarat.

The CBI is reported to have prepared a list of questions, which would be put before Sisodia during several sittings to be held henceforth where the Deputy Chief Minister is believed to be questioned with the statements culled from the accused in the case.

"Bapu and our freedom fighters fought for our country's freedom and they were also stopped and put behind bars and the Britishers filed a fake case against them. Similarly, a fake case has been filed against me. But I am not scared, instead, I am happy and feel proud that I got to work for the country and Delhi's development and education. I will go to jail and even sacrifice my life for my country," said Sisodia.

Earlier in the day, Sisodia visited the Raj Ghat along with several party supporters. AAP leaders including Atishi and other party workers were stopped by the Delhi Police from following Sisodia to the CBI office.

The CBI had filed a case in a Delhi court in August against Sisodia and 14 others under various sections, including criminal conspiracy and the Prevention of Corruption Act, which deals with taking undue advantage to influence a public servant by corrupt or illegal means or by the exercise of personal influence. The CBI is investigating if the policy aided liquor cartels.
