Bodies of 5-yr-old, woman found on railway tracks in two districts in Bengal
text_fieldsVadodara: The Vadodara Railway police on Monday began investigating the death of a woman and a 5-year-old girl on railway tracks in two different districts in the state, according to Indian Express.
Body of the girl was found on the Bakrol-Derol section of the railway line in Panchmahal district on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier police were alerted about a woman being run over on the railway tracks near Piplod in Dahod district. Authorities have collected their DNA samples to ascertain if they were connected.
Although detailed reports are awaited, the five-year-old is suspected to have died of head injuries due to a fall, police said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Vadodara Railway police, MA Chaudhary said cops received information about the child's body at around 2 pm on Sunday. Primary medical examination indicated death from injury, the officer said.
MA Chaudhary reportedly found that Piplod railway police had been first alerted about a woman being run over at around 4 am on Sunday morning. He said that probe was on to ascertain if their DNA sample were matching.
The loco guard of the train that had run over the woman reported the police about the incident, Chaudhary said. The woman, according to loco guard, wouldn't respond to honking of the train. She looked disoriented and lost when she come under the wheels, according to the report.
Police suspect that the child may have fallen off the train at night and woman discovered it after waking up, and she got off the nearest station looking for the child.
