Chennai: Saffron outfits in the state are all set to pitch in for the banned "Pattina Pravesam" ritual.
"Pattina Pravesam" is a ritual of carrying the mutt head of Dharmapuram Adheenam' in a silver palanquin.
RSS and BJP termed DMK government's ban a political move, according to IANS.
BJP state president K. Annamalai on Thursday alleged politics behind the ban and said Dharmapuram Adheenam existed long before the birth of DMK ideology.
On April 27, R. Balaji, Revenue Divisional Officer(RDO), in Myladuthurai district banned the ritual fearing law and order situation in the area.
The ban came in after Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi visited the mutt, according to the report.
Meanwhile, the Dravidar Kazhagar, the ideological arm of the DMK, earlier raised concerns that 'Pattina Pravesam' would lead to law and order situations in the area.
The Dharmapuram Adheenam-- Adheenam is a Tamil word meaning a Shaivite mutt—was to carry out the function on May 22.
When the mutt's current pontiff Srilasri Masilamani Gnanasambanda paramacharya Swamigal took charge of the Mutt on December 13, 2019, he was carried on a palanquin in honour.
BJP state president K. Annamalai said he would personally carry the pontiff in the palanquin, as BJP would be at the forefront of 'Pattina Pravesam.'
He also said that the same ritual was held even when the DMK leader late M. Karunanidhi, Stalin's father, was the Chief Minister, the report said.
The RSS and other saffron outfits are likely to hold massive protests across the state.
A senior leader of the RSS told IANS that it would coordinate all the like-minded organisations as well as other Mutts and spiritual centres against the government decision.
