Bird flu: Found first time in human beings in India
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The first case of death out of bird flu was reported in the country. The deceased 11-year-old boy, who hails from Haryana, was under treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
The boy, Susheel, was infected with Covid-19 earlier and had tested negative later. On July 2, he was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and Leukaemia. His samples tested at the Pune Institute of Virology confirmed that he was contracted with bird flu.
A hospital staff who came in contact with the boy is put under observation.
As the disease is confirmed in the area, the National Disaster Response team has reached the boy's village in Haryana and started their inspection. Earlier this year, bird flu was detected in Haryana, culminating in the death of thousands of birds, including domesticated ones.
The virus, also known as H5N1 and Avian Influenza, is detected in humans for the first time in the country.
