Assam police seize drugs worth Rs 10 crore

The state police were acting on a tip-off and intercepted a mini truck with a sticker "on telecom duty" at Borka on Saturday night.
Kamrup SP Hitesh Chandra Roy said six kgs of drugs - one kg of heroin and five kgs of opium, and 2000 SPS tablets - were seized. The illegal goods were hidden in the music system and spare tire. He added that the driver and others in the vehicle escaped.
The superintendent of police said an operation has been launched to arrest the criminals. He added that the market value of the drugs and tablets is over Rs 10 crore.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to share the news and wrote: "Yet again, a huge catch by Assam Police". Recently, Assam Police seized a huge quantity of contraband drugs worth Rs 4 crore in Kamrup district. Five peddlers were arrested in connection with the case.
