Arvind Kejriwal a "severe diabetic", lost 4.5 kg in jail: AAP
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and minister Atishi said on Wednesday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has lost 4.5 kg since his arrest.
However, authorities in Tihar jail disagreed with this statement saying that Kejriwal is fine and has lost no weight since he was jailed two days ago.
Atishi claimed on social media that Kejriwal is a "severe diabetic".
‘Despite his health problems, he works round the clock to serve the nation. Between his arrest and now, Arvind Kejriwal has lost 4.5 kg. This is very worrying. The BJP is putting his health in danger. If something happens to Arvind Kejriwal, not just the country, even God won't forgive them,’ she was quoted as saying.
Kejriwal, who was arrested in money laundering case linked to Delhi liquor policy case, was remanded to judicial custody till April 15 and was shifted to Tihar jail on Monday.
The prison sources said the chief minister weighed 65 kg at the time of his jailing and remains unchanged, adding that his blood sugar levels are normal, NDTV reported.
The chief minister reportedly practiced yoga and meditation and walked in the cell.
However it is reported that Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels fluctuated and dropped below 50 and he was given medicine to bring it under control.
Also, a sugar sensor was made available to him to monitor sugar fluctuations and toffees to arrest any sudden drop, according to NDTV.
The Chief Minister ate home-cooked food for lunch and dinner and a response team is posted near his cell for emergency.
The AAP leader had a video conference with his wife yesterday and met his lawyer in person, according to the report.
