Army launches its first community radio station in North Kashmir to bridge gap between Jawan, Awaam

Indian army launched 'Radio Chinar' their first community radio station with the tagline, 'Har Dil ki Dhadkhan' in the Baramulla district in North Kashmir reaching across Bandipora and Sopore at a frequency of 90.4 FM MHz. The station is expected to bridge the gap between the Jawans and the local people. The radio station commenced on Saturday and was inaugurated by the General officer commanding Chinar Corps Lt. General BS Raju.

The core idea of the radio station is to connect and bring awareness among the people of the remote areas on various schemes and programmes of the government.

"People in the valley are looking forward to more peace, they want to get the dividend of the change in the environment that is taking place. Even the COVID-19 cases have come under control as several economic activities are taking place, a large number of tourists are visiting the valley. I think we all are heading in the right direction," says Army's core commander LT General BS Raju while speaking to the media persons.

The Radio station serves not just the daily updates but is also a source of employment for the locals, irrespective of their age or gender.

"Community Radio Station will primarily play all genres of songs starting from Sufi songs in the morning and as the day will progress, will gain tempo in the pitch of songs with a mix of Hindi and Punjabi," said Sajid Ahmad, a radio jockey.

The radio station will be available on social media platforms such as Facebook, Youtube and Internet Radio to reach a wider section of the public.
