The government on Thursday announced an increase in fares for air travel by up to Rs 5,600. The Director General of Civil Aviation has approved to make an increase of 10 to 30 per cent in the rates. And as per aviation experts, the increase in ticket prices is due to the changes in the conditions set by the Civil Aviation Department to regulate fares in the domestic aviation sector.

The lower and higher rates were declared for the domestic sectors, which has resumed after all the hassles of COVID-19. The Director General of Civil Aviation has approved an increase in air fares as this condition expires on March 31. According to the reports, the minimum rate may increase by 12 per cent and the maximum rate by up to 30 per cent.

Rates for journeys of up to 40 minutes range from Rs 2200 to Rs 7800. Earlier it was between Rs 2,000 and Rs 6,000. The fare is divided into 7 categories according to the duration of the journey.
