DMK’s A Raja goes ahead likening Sanatan Dharma to HIV, social stigma
text_fieldsChennai: After the political storm triggered by Udhayanidhi Stalin with contentious remark comparing Sanatan Dharma to dengue and malaria with a suggestion to eradicate it from society, another DMK leader went a step further equalling Sanatan Dharma to HIV.
During a public address, DMK Lok Sabha MP A Raja suggested that apart from Udhayanidhi’s taking parallels for Sanatan Dharma to diseases like malaria and dengue, it should be likened to HIV and social stigmas.
The initial controversy began when Udhayanidhi Stalin, also a DMK member, called for the eradication of Sanatan Dharma, equating it to combating diseases. His statements drew widespread condemnation.
A Raja's comments have further fuelled tensions, with many demanding an apology and a debate on the issue. The divisive rhetoric has raised concerns about religious harmony and tolerance in the region.
As the situation unfolds, the political landscape remains tense, with calls for responsible discourse and an end to inflammatory statements.
