A recent survey conducted by healthcare provider Pristyn Care revealed that an alarming 60% of individuals residing in New Delhi and Mumbai are contemplating relocating due to the severe air pollution prevalent in both cities.

The study, encompassing 4,000 participants from Delhi, Mumbai, and nearby areas, sheds light on the growing concerns regarding air quality.

According to the survey, a staggering nine out of ten respondents have reported experiencing common symptoms associated with the deteriorating Air Quality Index (AQI), including persistent coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing, sore throat, and watery or itchy eyes.

The findings underscore the significant impact of declining air quality on the overall well-being of individuals, particularly during the winter season. Approximately 40% of those surveyed noted a deterioration in pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or bronchitis among their family members during this period.

The study also highlighted the frequency of seeking medical attention due to air pollution-related health issues. Four out of ten residents in Delhi and Mumbai either seek medical help annually or every few years for health concerns attributed to poor air quality.

Regarding lifestyle adjustments made in response to air pollution, 35% mentioned discontinuing outdoor activities like exercising and running, while 30% began using masks when outdoors.

Surprisingly, the report noted a lack of widespread use of air purifiers, with only 27% of respondents in Delhi and Mumbai admitting to their usage. Additionally, 43% of participants hold the misconception that using air purifiers reduces immunity.
