The much-anticipated film 'Laxmmi Bomb' by superstar Akshay Kumar has got a new title. Following the right-wing demonstrators accused the movie's title of being negative and accused it of encouraging 'love jihad', the horror comedy movie feauturin Akshay Kumar as a transgender, was forced to remove the 'bomb' from its title and change it to just Laxmii.

The producers agreed to change the title to Laxmi after a meeting with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), taking into account the sentiments of their audience.

A legal notice from Shri Rajput Karni Sena, demanding a change of title, was served on the film. With the title Laxmmi Bomb, they accused the movie of intentionally insulting the goddess that contaminated the "ideology, customs, gods and goddesses of Hindu religion.

"In addition to Karni Sena and netizens bashing it, the film's title was also criticized on Instagram by actor Mukesh Khanna of Shaktimaan fame. He stated it was to add 'commercial interest' to the film to incorporate the word 'Bomb'.

However, this is not the first instance of such an incident regarding intolerence. Back in 2018, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati was renamed Padmaavat following death threats and abuse against the actor and director, because of a rumour that the film featured an erotic dream sequence between Rani Padmini and Allauddin Khilji and for misrepresenting history and "dishonouring" Rani Padmini.

The film revolves around the character of Akshay being possessed by a transgender person's ghost.

The project, co-starring Kiara Advani, also features Ashwini Kalsekar, Sharad Kelkar, Manu Rishi and Ayesha Raza and is scheduled to be premiered on Disney+ Hotstar on 9 November in time for Diwali and is the remake of a Tamil hit called 'Muni 2:Kanchana' and is fronted by original director Raghava Lawrence Lawrence.
