Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor is set to embark on a new cinematic journey with a mythological epic.

In addition to his upcoming projects, the acclaimed actor has signed on for a significant mythological epic produced by Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani's Pooja Entertainment. This marks the first collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and the Bhagnani family.

While the project is shrouded in secrecy regarding specific details, it is confirmed that the film draws inspiration from the revered Hindu epic, Mahabharata.

Shahid Kapoor is set to portray one of the epic's most influential characters. The film is envisioned as a visual effects extravaganza, promising to transport audiences into an unexplored world within the Mahabharata. A prominent filmmaker from the South Indian film industry has been chosen to helm this ambitious undertaking, although the director's identity is yet to be disclosed, reported Pinkvilla.

According to insiders, this project represents a significant milestone for Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani, who have been meticulously developing it throughout the year.

Shahid Kapoor was their first and ultimate choice for the lead role, and he has officially signed on. The film is expected to push technological boundaries, creating a cinematic experience like no other.

Shahid Kapoor is enthusiastic about venturing into uncharted territory with this mythological drama, with filming scheduled to commence in the first half of 2024.

Prior to diving into this project, Shahid will be seen in Rosshan Andrrews' cop thriller, set to start production this month in Mumbai. Discussions are also underway with acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a commercial film, although it remains in the preliminary stages. On the release front, audiences can anticipate seeing Shahid Kapoor alongside Kriti Sanon in Dinesh Vijan's untitled robot rom-com, slated to hit theaters during the Valentine's Day weekend next year.
