In 2013, a rumour of explosive content caught the industry that Shah Rukh Khan secretly married his co-actor in Don and Don 2, Priyanka Chopra, in a midnight 'nikah' (Islamic marriage ceremony), reports Times Now.
According to the portal, Khan, who was already married then, was banned from acting with Priyanka anymore by his wife, Gauri Khan. "Gauri Khan was quite upset with his sweet gesture towards Priyanka and banned SRK from working with PeeCee," Times Now writes.
The portal reported that Gauri also influenced Karan Johar and her friend Sussanne Khan to work with Priyanka.
Times Now, citing reports, writes that Priyanka's father, Dr Ashok Chopra, was on his deathbed and wanted to see his daughter settled down. That is when SRK and Priyanka decided to tie the knot in a secret ceremony, like in the SRK starrer "Rab ne bana di Jodi".
Rumours went everywhere after the ban fell on Priyanka on working with SRK that both got married to each other in a secret ceremony at midnight in Toronto in 2013. After they returned, they went separately to their respective homes.
On the rumours, Shah Rukh Khan told MensXp, "I think it's a little disrespectful; I'm extremely sorry about that. Sorry means… it's not directly because of anything I've done but the fact that she's my friend. She's one of the closest friends I have and very close to my heart and always will be," Times Now quotes.
